During this financial year, BMCT worked closely with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), local communities and the district and sub-county local governments to implement a number of projects and activities aimed at reducing dependency on park resources.

For example, two hundred (200) beehives were procured and distributed to 39 (35 males and 4 females) community members. The distribution was guided by sub-county and parish leadership. In addition to distribution of the beehives, recipients of the bee-hives were given hands-on basic apiary management skills to be able to manage the hives. They were also introduced to entrepreneurial and life skills intended to make their life better through improved management of incomes. Projects of this nature have mended relationship between park managers and the communities. Secondly, bees are deterrent to wildlife invasion of food crops and property in agricultural field and gardens. Hence, a reduction in human wildlife conflict.
